Meet the Floral Dream Team

Megan // Owner
Hello, I'm Megan! I live in Portland with my partner and our two children. I love ice skating, swimming, deep friendships, traveling, wildness, fashion, and parties.
I started Field in the summer of 2013. At that time, I was a new parent and teaching reading + writing at Portland Adult Education, but was yearning for a shake-up. One morning, I was watering my little city flower garden and had an epiphany that flowers could be my living, creatively and financially. I had a background in printmaking and other crafts, so my experience in art- color palettes and compositions, etc. translated easily to the medium of flowers. I started taking orders for local delivery and booking wedding clients immediately. Portland was fertile ground for both the ethos of sustainable floral practices as well as a new wave of floral design.
With each year in this field, I settle more into the craft of floristry, while growing into new phases, like event production, managing a team, and riding floral trends. My love of people and their life moments, flowers as art, new ideas, and next-level hard work remain consistent.

Sharon // Studio Lead
Hi, I’m Sharon! I'm originally from upstate New York. I came east to attend art school in Boston, but after graduation I realized the city wasn’t the place for me, so I moved to Maine.
While looking for jobs here, I stumbled into the floral world, working first as a shop girl then moved into a design role. I’ve been working as a full time florist ever since, approaching my 10th year in flowers, at Field since 2022. I love how floristry combines my love of nature and my affinity for design.
When I’m not flowering, I’m fixing up my old houses, antiquing, gardening, wandering in the woods somewhere, or staring at the ocean.

Bailey // Studio Assistant/Deliveries
Hi, I'm Bailey!
I love storytelling. Specifically, through songwriting, which has been my creative language for as long as I can remember. That love began on car rides with my dad, where Crash by Dave Matthews Band played on repeat as he shared stories tied to songs. I learned early that music holds space for our most powerful memories.
Originally from Massachusetts, I've called Maine home for the last three years. While music still holds the key to my heart, I've loved discovering new ways to tell stories—through photography and illustration, which I continue to do freelance, and now through flowers. I'm drawn to the in-between moments, the quieter parts where the magic happens. What moves me most about florals is how they hold space for life's meaningful moments—whether it's a wedding, a friend in mourning, or a grandmother's birthday.
When I'm not working, you'll find me spending time with my niece and three nephews, who show me the greatest curiosity and magic in the small things. I'm also a sucker for a handwritten note to or from a loved one, and a cheeky dip in the ocean (or any body of water, really).
In the short time I've worked with the Field crew, I admire the storytelling our designers do through their floral work, and I love the part I play in sharing that message with the rest of Maine.
Sustainable Floristry Since 2013
Sustainable social and business practices have been at the core of our mission since inception. Some of our sustainability highlights include~
Buying near 100% of our flowers from Maine flower farms from April through October, with lucky bits even in winter avoiding the environmental catastrophe of flying floral materials around the world and averting the use of flowers grown with the harmful/substandard flower farming practices of other countries
Working with plants, dried Maine flowers, and special foraged greenery into our shop options to limit the need for imported floral materials off season
Hiring highly skilled floral designers adept at creating balanced and breathtaking floral arrangements with whatever seasonal flowers are thriving that change from week to week
Supporting local, often organic or low impact, mostly women-run flower farms
Renting all wedding and event flower vessels to permit reuse
Avoiding bleached and chemically dyed flowers
Buying vessels from local ceramicists
Using glass, metal, and paper almost exclusively in our design work
Composting our floral scraps
Avoiding the use of floral foam, plastic vessels, and excessive packaging in our event design work and daily flower deliveries
Donating a portion of Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day flower sales to various non-profits
Consulting with wedding clients about choosing materials and designs that will create the least environmental impact
